This program is an official RI 250 event and Part 2 of our Grace Lee Boggs program, following the first gathering held on May 2 at RWU.
This family-centered event will take place outdoors at 195 District Park in Providence on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Families will experience Grace Lee Boggs’s legacy through art, movement, food, and community.
Teacher Open House at the AAPI History Museum
As Rhode Island prepares to implement AAPI history instruction in public schools beginning in the 2026–27 school year, the AAPI History Museum warmly invites public school teachers to a special Teacher Open House on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 4:30 p.m.
The AAPI History Museum was founded to make Asian American and Pacific Islander histories more visible, accessible, and meaningful for students, educators, and the wider community. Our exhibits highlight the diversity and richness of AAPI experiences, including migration and immigration, identity, activism, solidarity, belonging, exclusion, resilience, and community-building.
During the Open House, teachers will tour the museum, explore educational resources, view our current special exhibit “Mixed Heritage, One History,” and ask questions about teaching AAPI history in the classroom. We hope the museum can serve as a supportive resource for educators as schools begin this important work.
